First day in Jakarta, and things were sizling on the streets (and in our shoes).
I talk about the highs and lows of day 1 of the trip, and the strange theory that I have more energy and endurance than a 19yr old and 24yr old!! Yes, it’s hard to believe isn’t it?
The highlight of today was having dinner with my friend Jimmy (a singer), at Sushi Tei, in Plaza Indonesia. He’s as yummy as the food too
We were staying in Formula1 Hotel, Cikini, which had a great view of the public pool ![]()

Traveling with friends can be problematic because travel brings out the worst in people. I once went to Las Vegas with a friend who did nothing but bitch the entire time about the hotel, the food, the crowds, the tackiness, etc.
I finally lost it when we were in a bar and she was bitching about a guy smoking a cigar. “Sandy, you’re not having a very good time, are you?” That shut her up.
But I’ve found that I’m often better off traveling alone than with someone who is liable to be a wet blanket.
This podcast is actually quite funny – listening you to winging about whinging for 18 minutes!
BTW – Doug is a bit of a hottie – isn’t he?
ha ha, yes, the irony of it, hey?
LOL.
oh yeah…. doug is HOT, and (most probably) straight though. damn it.
but, his skinny tooth-pick legs are NOT my cuppa tea. Even with those sparkly eyes he has.
hey mark. yep, i’ve had a few recent trips away ‘sendiri’ (alone; in bahasa indonesia). But… they get a bit boring too.
maybe if i was bonking hot men as i went, it wouldn’t be so boring? LOL
